Original Item: One of a Kind. All of the components of this lovely Trench Art Desk Lighter are Totally inert and demilitarized according to BATF guidelines with hollow body and inert fuses. None of these items can be converted to explosive devices and the lighter is not available for export.
This is a fantastic WWII "Trench Art" desk lighter, assembled during or after the war as a memento of the conflict. The lighter itself is made from a WWII MkII "Pineapple" Fragmentation grenade, and was made using the original fuse mechanism. The grenade is on a small base that allows it to stand upright, with a flint spark wheel mechanism installed into the fuze, with the top being unscrewable to allow the filling of lighter fluid & a wick. The wick is very worn down and would require a replacement for use. The grenade has been repainted dark green but much of the pain is worn.
The piece measures 5¼” tall with the small base having a 2” diameter. A truly impressive piece of WWII trench art, ready to go on your desk. We have not tested it, but see no reason why without a proper servicing it would not function correctly as a lighter. The flint mechanism definitely still sparks! Ready to display!
